IFFR presents an exclusive screening of David Cronenberg’s 1996 cult film Crash – with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra! The score by Howard Shore will be performed live on 31 January at 21:00 in ‘de Doelen’.
Crash is a 1996 thriller, written and directed by David Cronenberg and based on J.G. Ballard’s 1973 novel. The story features a group of people who are sexually aroused by car crashes. Crash generated a fair amount of controversy when it was first released. While some film reviewers praised the film for its originality, others criticised its convergence of sex and violence. James Spader, Rosanna Arquette and Holly Hunter feature in this film.
Howard Shore is a composer renowned for his film scores, including The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. He is also a long-term collaborator of David Cronenberg, having scored most of his films since 1979.
