G. Mahler, Das Lied von der Erde
(The Songs of the Earth)
One of the finest voices of her generation, Canadian contralto Maureen Forrester dazzled audiences worldwide. Honouring her memorable life and career, these performances feature L’Aube a new song cycle for mezzo-soprano and orchestra by Howard Shore (composer of The Lord of the Rings trilogy), performed by Canadian Susan Platts in an Ottawa premiere of the work, plus one of Forrester’s signature works: Mahler’s symphonic song cycle, Das Lied von der Erde.
Join us for Fanfare, our post-concert reception: Mix and mingle with Ottawa Symphony musicians over dessert and coffee.
